Making deposits error-free

Getting Started

Invest in the future you believe in

Bake is a fintech platform that helps over 1.3 million users generate returns from their crypto and digital assets.

Context

What's the problem?

To start using Bake services, users have to own crypto. They can either buy crypto, or deposit crypto from other apps into Bake. The deposit process however, is a complex one. If instructions aren't followed, funds will be permanently lost.

The deposit flow on Bake was re-looked when one user lost over $30K funds while trying to make a deposit. While my official role was not a UX designer, my design was ultimately implemented.

The existing flow:

Objectives

Before digging deeper, the team decided on the high-level goal:

  1. How might we improve the clarity of deposit flow, so that users don't make any mistakes and risk losing their funds?

The crypto industry is still rife with complex experiences and technical jargon. With greater simplicity and transparency, we hypothesised that users would make fewer errors and have greater trust and satisfaction in Bake. To consider this project a success, we measured:

  1. Decrease in errors when making deposits
  2. Decrease in customer support tickets
